Hello, and welcome!
This is my little space on the internet where I write about anything related to games. I focus on my gaming experiences and cultural critique and analysis of videogames. I have a particular interest in gender and how gender issues intersect with games. I write from a feminist and anti-oppression perspective. Sometimes I write about things that aren't game-related.
I am super old; I've been a gamer since the Commodore 64 and Atari 2600 era.
I own the following games platforms: DS, GBA, GCN, N64, PC, PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, SNES, Wii.
Some games I've really enjoyed:
- Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
- Dance Dance Revolution
- Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
- Guild Wars
- Guitar Hero
- Ico
- Katamari Damacy
- Metal Gear Solid
- Metroid series
- Rock Band
- SingStar
Being an all-around gamer, I also enjoy non-electronic games. I used to LARP (World of Darkness) and I play Dungeons & Dragons when I can. I generally can't stand board games, though.
Brief Bio
When she's not gaming, Brinstar enjoys anime, independent cinema, science fiction film and television, all kinds of music, the occasional comic book, travel, and other geeky stuff as it strikes her fancy.
My Blog, My Opinions—Not My Employer's
This blog existed long before I started working in the videogame industry, and I have continued to write about games and gaming after having become a games industry professional. I try to maintain a separation between my interactions as a professional and my interactions as an average gamer. This blog is a personal space, so I don't write about my work here.
All statements and opinions made on my site, in posts, comments, or other personal sites linked from this one, are my own and do not represent the views or policies of my employer. If my company has anything to say, it will not be here, but on their official website and other official channels. I speak only for myself on this blog.
Site Information
Why is this blog called 'Acid for Blood'? An explanation.
This blog was originally hosted on Blogger (too limited for my taste) for about a year. I self-hosted it using WordPress (good platform, but I didn't like back end maintenance) at A Small Orange (an awesome host, but my blog outgrew my hosting plan) for over two and a half years. It is now hosted at TypePad.
