Thanks for writing this post. It was really nice to read. Gender issues are really complicated and rather thorny, but also incredibly important. I really wish that more people were more educated about and aware of them. Thank you for noticing and thinking about the issues! I hope your post encourages other people to do so!

At any rate, this was an excellent post. It's worth pointing out that the "lame" post that you linked to also contains a lot of ableist usages of other terms as well (crazy, insanity, etc).

Without fail, whenever I look back at old things I write, I cringe. I know it's true that we're all works in progress, but learning about our own personal privileges and -isms is some very painful learning indeed.
